Fishing Reports on FIRE!

Post by Mike Carey » Fri Aug 28, 2009 11:33 pm

wow, you guys are tearing up the river and saltwater fishing reports this month, due of course to this amazing pink salmon fishery. We have 116 river and 148 saltwater reports for this month (compared with 33 and 50 last year) and that is almost equal to the 297 freshwater reports posted this month.

Thanks to everyone that are sending in reports. BTW, I've seen a few comments on fishing reports complaining about the brevity of the report and lack of "useful information". Here's my take on a fishing report submission. I love reading the detailed, entertaining reports, but I'm also perfectly happy when someone sends a one sentence report. A brief fishing report is better than no fishing report. I wish we wouldn't criticize anglers for actually submitting a fishing report, no matter how short. Even a brief report builds the database. For example, if someone posts a "5" rating that number goes into the data base to formulate trends and historical reports. So all reports are helpful in that respect. If you're a Premium Member the Historical Reports tool allows you to analyze the best periods to fish particular bodies of water. And the more reports we have the more accurate these trends will become.

More important, someone that sends in a report is actually taking the time to contribute to WL.com. Even with all the reports that are getting submitted, it's still only a very small percentage of the total number of anglers that visit the site each month. We should be thanking people for posting reports, not criticizing because it doesn't meet our expectations of what a fishing report should be.

So thanks again everyone, it's been a lot of fun reading and approving all these reports!

WOW! Amazing numbers. Rock on everyone. Keep the great reports coming.
I will say too, that I have noticed over here on the Kitsap Pennisula, that there has been a huge increase in reporting.
Really nice to know that others our out taking advantage of our waters and letting everyone know how it is out there.

Didn't you guys know the PINKS ARE IN. :dwarf:
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I'm from the other side of that state where the salmon runs are. Never realized there were so much of them as I never fished for them.

It has been UNREAL. Too bad the sockeye didn't fair so well this year.
