so i've heard of stories about sturgeon in the river does anyone ever fish for them? this is the next species i want to check off my list. not right now though, i'm concentrating on salmon for till the end of the year. just want info. what are the tecniques? should i just hire a guide?

I've never heard of much Sturgeon fishing in the Sno. A little farther in Port Susan and up the Stilli. A friend fishes for them when ever possible.

My friends and I just started fishing the Snoho Sturgeon this year. I have always fished for them and done well in the Columbia but decided to try a little closer to home. My friend got a 58"er on the lower Snoho this year, and we have seen a few others jump. A few humpy seasons ago we watched a guy plunking for pinks with sand shrimp hook and loose a good sized sturgeon. But really I hear that it is a hit and miss fishery for sturgeon on the Snoho. Best bet close by like Bodofish said is probably the lower Stilliguamish River. Good luck.

I'm glad you asked this question. I moved up here in Everett 14 years ago. I'm from the
bay area in California, the delta, in that area is full of sturgeon. I fished for them growing up.
I have not fished for them in the Snohomish but I have been gathering information on the
topic. Let me tell you this, there is not much info on this topic. You get little pieces here and
there. It's either a well kept secret, the fishing is not that good, or it just doesnt get any
pressure. What I heard is to fish the lower half, where the slough flows in. And the sloughs
are supposed to be good to, just be careful in there it gets shallow. Give us a post if you
give it a try.

i think when i get some money i might hire a guide cause i've never fished for sturgeon before, but for right now i'm gonna concentrate on salmon till the new year. if anyone goes out for sturgeon, has an extra spot, and wouldn't mind teaching give me a yell. otherwise till we meet next year sturgeon.
