Yea, that was posted a while back, but it's still the neatest little trick. I've had the chance to use it a couple of times since I've seen it, it's so cool.

Yes, I've seen the video before. It is a tease though, as the perch may be cleaned but it isn't filleted. Who cooks and eats panfish with the bones still attached?

That's a GREAT method for pan fish and well worth the repeat performance! Thanks Spokey! A light frying, not crispy, and the flesh glides off of the bones with a fork after cooking..... I used it a lot this winter with the perch I caught from under the ice....

I may have to try this with bluegill or crappie, I like the skin on my perch too much to take it off :)

I do! I've never filleted panfish, you lose so much meat doing that, it seems like a waste. Cook 'em with the bones on and fry them. I guess if you hate bones than it's probably a good idea to fillet them, and just catch more fish.

If you know how to fillet a fish, you don't loose any significant amount of of meat. In fact, in the method shown, you loose all of the belly meat. I still like to use a standard fillet knife to take care of my fish, but those folks that use the electric knives can run through a bucket of fish in no time.

I still haven't figured out how to use an electric knife to fillet a fish. I've tried and I just end up ruining it.
