Bank/pier fishing for smallmouths

Yesterday i was perch fishing off a pier lake washington just with two small splitshots and a worm, letting it cruise over the worms, and i got a small smallmouth. i already had enough perch so i wanted to target the bass, but i didnt know how. Can somebody tell me how to set up for bank fishing for smallmouth?

1.) 3" senko, texas rigged weightless
2.) 4" hula grub, football head
3.) 3" tube, inserted jighead
4.) dropshot, any kind of small finesse worm
5.) shadrap in perch or craw color

if these don't catch a smallie, they aren't there or they aren't hungry.

i only have senko's in purple and i think they are a little bigger. Will the purple color work well?
also, even for the other setups, what colors would work well?

ANY color will work depending on the situation, but I try to use natural colors just as a confidence thing. Also dont forget more reaction baits like spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. Plus you really cant go wrong with a normal single-tail grub on a jighead or trigged.

What about just a night crawler? There can be alot of people on the pier sometimes and if that happens i dont want to piss them off by casting everywhere.

night crawlers can be on a dropshot rig, right?

Crawlers will work extremely well for Smallmouth bass. Just a jig head and a big crawler. The only problem is if there are perch in the area which fish do you think will get to your crawler first? Exactly. You will lose a ton of cralwer tails that way when Perch are in the area.

I would suggest a yellow rooster tail, yellow or white mister twister with a white 1/4 oz jig or a SR7 Fire Tiger Rapala Shad Rap. Those tend to go wide on retrieve so if you have a lot of fisherman around you certainly would piss them off with a SR7.

i'd stick with your green pumpkin and watermelon type colors. some good dropshot baits are GYCB 3.5" cut tail worms, sniper snubs, KGM slinkys, KGM tad toles, various robo worms, etc.

There are also some squaw fish thier. They dont bite senko's do they?

never had one hit a senko, but they will attack cranks.
