Shed hunting?????

Post by Big D » Fri Nov 04, 2011 12:20 pm

On the way home from work this morning I drove past a large road kill buck. He looked to be a large three or four point. Mind you I passed him at about sixty MPH so I didn't get a real good count. I was telling my son about the buck on the way back into town to pick up my pickup from the shop and as we passed the buck I pointed him out to my son.
My son says "No dad that's a doe, it's a real big doe but a doe none the less. We made a bet for a hundred bucks that if "He" was still there on the way home we'd settle it then.
Well, low and behold I couldn't hold my kid to the bet but now we're wondering what kind of low life shed hunts a road kill.
I don't know exactly what's wrong with it but it seems wrong on so many levels.
What do you think?

[omg] [thumbdn] Guess the buck doesn't need them anymore, but still seems wrong to me. Insult to injury kind of thing.

While elk hunting two years ago in a 3pt. min. area, we found a barely legal 3pt. not far off the road that had been gut shot sometime in the last 48-72 hours and had been dead for a good while as it was swelling and one eye was pecked out. It was visible from the logging road and coming back up later that day we saw someone had cut it's head off. We guessed someone had probably illegally shot a cow and then taken the head off the bull to make it legal. Who else would take the head off a rotting carcass? [blink]

:thumbdown Thats actually VERY illegal to do. Like along the lines of poaching. Sad that a buck of that caliber was wasted by the front of a vehicle instead of a bullet or arrow and actually enjoyed. [unsure]
