OKUMA SST Rods??

Post by CRW » Tue Aug 18, 2009 1:31 pm

Has anybody been using the new Okuma SST rods??? ( Salmon Steelhead Trout )

I have been searching, but can't find any reviews, or comments on them.

Just wondering if anybody on here has been using them.

Thanks

I took a look at the SST rods when i was buying a salmon rod a few weeks ago but ended up going with the Okuma 8'6" Celilo rod. The SST's felt pretty solid when i was playing around with it but a guy over at Sportco did tell me that he's had customers tell him how Okuma rods tend to break a bit easy. But he said generally people still just upgrade to the Guide Select or downgrade to the Celilo, which are both just 20-30$ above or below respectively.
Not sure how much credibility this statement has...but i bought my celilo for $35 at Sportco and seemed to hold up very well when slinging 2oz Buzzbombs despite the lure weight rating at 1/4 to 5/8 oz.

Also, the guys over at Outdoor Emp highly suggested the SST but they didn't have the right one for me, thus ended up going to Sportco and purchasing the Celilo instead.
