Northwest Fishing Reports

My summer waders have finally gone South. Can anyone give a recommendation for a pair of breathable waders.
Redington, Simms,?? Something that will last, they get a lot of use. My last pair fit very tight around the ankles, I thought that was kinda weird.

They are alot cheaper now too. They was around 214 I believe for along time. Cabelas has a gr8 return policy and there products are always top notch. Ive been using these ones for about a year now, maybe a lil longer. No patches in them and I fish 1-3 times a week in the rivers. Alot of times Ill be camping and I keep my waders on only taken them off to sleep.

I recently was in Boise and my son in law and I went shopping for breathable waders for him. He ended up buying a pair of Field and Stream for a descent price. They looked like a very good set of waders for the price. Field & Stream have several models of the waders. You might want to take a look at them.

I'm currently using Hodgman zippered breathable stockingfoot. I love 'em. The zipper is tough and watertight, although a bit stiff. I've used them a lot in my float tube and they keep me high and dry. The advantages of having the zipper are pretty obvious too...

+1 I love mine.

I have the Cabela's Dry Plus GII waders and am happy with them although I haven't used them a lot. I've had them for one year and have used them 4 or 5 times, but they don't leak and are comfortable. The one thing I don't like about them is the buckles on this model are a little on the flimsy side in my opinion. And, less important, the little pocket inside the breast is kind of hokey. I put my cell phone and wallet in there and that is about all there is room for.

Wait, I have these. We are brothers now BR. I am with you about no room in that pocket. I hate wearing vests..

That explains it! Last time I was river fishing, some guy asked me if I was that "jens" guy from WL.....it must have been the waders. We could be twins. lol.

I'm with you about buckles. I much prefer the side squeeze release. When my hands are cold, these seem a little difficult to release. Could be my arthritis though.
The pocket is really a poor design. I'm thinking about taking them to a sewing shop and have them install a small zipper to replace the velcro closure patch. I sometimes think the manufactures design these things without ever trying them "in the field". I've noticed this in fishing vests. They add cute little things to a vest that are basically worthless in practical use. An example is on some vests, they put 6-9 tiny little pockets on the inside. They aren't even large enough to fit a spool of tippet in.

The gold medal dry plus waders buckles are easy to use and the 5 layers on knees and the butt area instead of 3 is nice. Ive gotten a hook in my leg a few times and as long as you get it out before someone rips on it hasnt been a problem yet. They are only like 30 bucks more then the dry plus waders. Do make sure ya check out all that cabelas has to see what you like. But again the products are the best in the price range in my opinion and you can easily return if need be.
