Still on my quest for an artificial bait I can depend on…

I have heard from a few fellows on another forum that the Maniac Lures, especially the Cut’r Bug are really good artificial bait for trout. These boys are from the mid-west and I would like to get some local opinions. Also one of the guys recommending the lure has the screen name “maniac” so there may be some bias there…

Has anyone here used them?
I was thinking about getting some of the 1 ½” and rigging them on a 1/16 oz jig.

I can not find them locally, but the shipping is very reasonable so I am thinking I will order a 10-pack of Chartreuse/Holographic and a 10-pack of Black Leech to try out.

One of the features is that the tails are not split when you take them out of the package, but they are scored (see image above) so that you can split them. I think that they would have more action and therefore get more attention with the tail split. Then again, I am not a fish, nor am I an experienced fisherman so I am just guessing.

Looks like a reaper style bait. I have some similar ones made by roboworm that I use dropshotting for smallmouth.

I haven't seen those, yet. I use the RoboLeach and am a big fan of their products.

I think you'd be better off trolling with a flatfish or needlefish than jigging with plastics. I could be wrong though.
