It's a proven fact that many predatory fish home in on the electronic signals generated by their prey. Some fish are more sensitive than others so whether or not it makes sense to have them in your tackle box is for you to research and decide. I use e-chip'd devices as well and have good luck with their Sting Kings and trout/kokanee killers. I'm not quite as hot for them on a flasher as the flasher's job is to imitate a feeding fish and I want my lure attacked, not what's in front of it. But I've got several of the e-chip flashers in my collection and mix them in to see what is working for the day. Tom Nelson mentions in his seminars that he doesn't believe that the e-chip gets him more strikes but he does believe that the device helps get him more solid hook-ups. It's a theory I tend to support, as I get more vicious strikes on my e-chipped lures then I do on non-chipped lures. Now as for what is considered an electronic lure, that is a matter of semantics. All that an e-chip device is, a small metal tube, one small metal ball and a non-metal insert of crystalline material. It's a fancy mini rattle device and the crystal is selected by frequency to emit a sound/pulse that simulates a small bait fish signature when the ball strikes it. Rattle plugs have been around for years and we all know they can make a difference. Before anyone goes off and suggests that I don't know what I am talking about, understand that I have 20+ years in the electronics industry and have repaired more radios, navigation and radar equipment than I care to count, I comprehend the concept and the science behind it.
