Shimano Stradic FI reel questions

I have a gift certificate from last Christmas that needs to get spent. (LL Bean) I don't really need a new reel,,,, but there isn't a lot of stuff at LL Bean that I want. Has anybody used this reel before. It's a little pricey for what I'd normaly buy, but of course it's kinda free. The reviews are excellent.

Can someone also tell me what exactly it means when you talk about the gear ratio. This one is 5.7:1

with the responses on that site sounds like it would be worth a shot... Any spinning reels I get from now on are going to be California Tackle but with a gift card it looks like a good choice:cheers:

This is what I found doing a google search.
Gear ratio: This is the amount of revolutions the spool will make (casting reels) or the line winder (spinning reels) for each full crank of the handle. For example, when you crank the handle of a casting reel one full revolution with a 6.1:1 gear ratio, the spool will revolve 6.1 times. If you crank the handle of a spinning reel one full revolution with a 5.2:1 gear ratio, the line winder (the part that spins around the spool when you crank) will rotate around the spool 5.2 times.

they have sahara 2 and 3000 6.2:1 2 spools for 80 bucks

The Stradic is a great reel. You won't make a bad decision purchasing it. Very well liked by many anglers. They have been as cheap as $129 recently at many places, so if you hold out a month or so, you may get it cheaper. But, free money is free money!

QF...I have a couple of them and think they are one of the best spinning reals made for the money....Easy to use all day with no problems and they don't wear out their welcome! I have one that is a 1000 with 6lb for a noodle rod I use for steelhead and river silvers and humpies and lake fishing for trout The other is a 4000 I use it for general fishing with 12 to 15lb. It works great for Steelhead and any river fishing. I have very poor wrists and have found that these reels don't make them sore at the end of the day..... Hope you find a reel that fills your needs.
