It's not a club notice, but, work brought me close to 3 Rivers today in Woodinville, of course I just had to go in! :) I've been looking at rods to match up with some reels comin in from e-bay.... got a little info on the diff between IM7 - IM10 rods. I also found the below info.

There's a bass fishing seminar at Three Rivers this saturday, March 5th, the flyer states that it starts at 10am. Give em a hollar if you have any questions, 425-415-1575. If you're as bored as I am, I'll see ya there! PS I know almost nothing about targeting bass but I'm anxious to learn..

Here is something that was recently brought to my attention by someone on here: if you use a right handed spinning reel you MIGHT find it more comfortable to use a LEFT handed baitcast reel. Particularly if you mooch or river fish for salmon. Try it out for yourself, put your spinning rig and salmon rig next to each other, what do you see? LOL the handles are on opposite sides when they are in the position that you fish them with. LMAO I'm buying some lefties to set up for this year! Picked up some Quantum Accurist at ebay for $35 shipping included, new!

ALL my reels are left handed---as in I use my left hand to wind the handle. Makes MUCH more sense---as in you don't have to change the rod from one hand to the other to crank the handle. LOTS of fish will take the lure as it hits the water, some you'd lose while changing the rod from one hand to the other.

good info Mark on the bass seminar!

as for the spinning and bait casters i use both ways and have both rt and lt side casters I feel comfortable using both I am rt handed but by the position of the holding the rod with the guides up spinning compared to the guides down for bait casting I find it easier for either rt or lt for me. but I can see the logic behind it I just used what I felt comfy with.

It isn't done that way.

The SPINNING rods have the guides DOWN. The CASTING rods have the guides UP. SPINNING the reel goes UNDER the rod. CASTING and SPINCAST the reels goes on TOP of the rod. That is the way they are designed.

in my fishing world it is done that way lol that's why I put " I just used what I felt comfy with" for me not stating the right or wrong way to fish them.

There is no right or wrong way when it comes to what we find most comfortable. I did capitalize "MIGHT", as in it might be more comfortable. Hope the info helps someone........ Other than salmon fishing off of boats, I haven't used a lot of baitcasters, even then, I'm usually using the downriggers. I've used spinning outfits for most fishing. Any hoo! Have a good un!
