Volunteer opportunity: Help clean up forests near Winston Creek Campground in Lewis County June 4

Volunteers are needed to help clean up litter and an illegal dumpsite near Winston Creek Campground in Lewis County this Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Volunteers will be working on lands managed by DNR and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) that surround the Winston Creek area. Winston Creek Campground is off Highway 12, south of Mayfield Lake.
The cleanup is a partnership with Eyes in the Woods, DNR, WDFW and Weyerhaeuser Twin Harbors Management Team with the goal of promoting responsible use of public and open private lands.
If you are interested in participating, please register at www.eyesinthewoods.org. Select the calendar and chose June 4 for more details and to register.
Eyes in the Woods will provide volunteers with trash bags and gloves. Mileage reimbursement will be available to those who provide a trailer or truck to haul garbage. Volunteers are encouraged to wear boots, bring shovels, pitchforks, rakes and to pack a lunch.

Directions to DNR’s Winston Creek Campground: From I-5 exit 68, take US Highway 12 approximately 16 miles to Winston Creek Road. Drive for 3.6 miles then turn left onto Longbell Road. Campground is approximately 1 mile on the right.
