GPS/Google Maps Now Active
Since we'll be implementing the GPS coordinates to lakes as a free feature on the new site I decided to remove the Premium Member restriction on this site. In the Lake Index for Frewater Reports you can now click on the GPS icon and go to Google Maps to see the location of the lake. This will also work for getting driving directions to the lake.

RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
We might need to double check some of them. Beaver Lake on the plateau is off, it has a location around Black Diamond and Lake Tapps.
RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
So be it. Those are the coordinates straight from the USGS. If you have better coordinates then fork them over.

Convert that to Dec and I'll be able to test it out and enter it.

RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
I don't know how to convert them......so never mind then.
RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
I can do it, I'm just slammed right now. Thanks for the coordinates. I'll get them converted and plugged in when I get the chance.
RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
Those coordinates point to the North West corner of Pine Lake. What tool did you use to obtain them?

I used Google Earth (probably not a perfect tool). They were supposed to point to the edge of the boat launch at Beaver Lake, King County in Sammamish/Issaquah.

When I click on the Beaver lake (King County) GPS link, it takes me to Beaver Lake.... This is the link:

Is that the wrong Beaver Lake?

I think that is the wrong lake. I think the right one is in Issaquah:

RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
It is going to be real interesting when you just google the name of the lake ,unless you know the general vicinity of the lake. That is because there are a lot of lakes with the same name in the same county. You also have to know how many names that one lake can go by.When I first started out fishing/exploring, I would use a Metsker county map to find hidden gems.Hard to get lost when you find a township/range marker next to the road to pinpoint your exact location.

RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
We didn't get any of our information for the lake locations from google. We got the info straight from the USGS databases and this Beaver issue is 100% human error on my part. There are plenty of other counties with lakes that are all names the same and all of those coordinates are correct.
RE:GPS/Google Maps Now Active
This is the right one. I understand Aaron's point and it is well taken. This happened to me when someone asked about "Spring Lake(s)." There were like 2 or 3, one in Grant County and some in another...it can get confusing trying to explain it and then it's easy to give out the wrong information by mistake. I imagine we have a good amount of "Beaver Lakes" in Washington state, only 1 Beaver Lake that we all know very well, in King Countyurbanangler wrote:I think that is the wrong lake.
