Method: In fishing reports

Post by fishnislife » Sat May 10, 2008 7:23 pm

I always feel weird putting that I am bottom fishing from a boat when I have been fishing out of a float tube. Is it a pain in the arse to add float tube, canoe, pontoon to the Method tab in the fishing reports?

You can tell me if I'm being a pain in the @ss asking for this. :clown:

Would'nt that just be considered fishing from a boat? A boat being a method of not sinking to the bottom...?

It works when you consider that a boat is a floating devise. Pontoon, tube, and canoe are also floating devises.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

When bass fishing, I don't usually consider it "bottom fishing." Fish the surface, fish the shallows, fish the breaks, fish the deeps, what am I doing? Some days it's hard to put a finger on what I did or which pattern was the most prevalent that day. Any suggestions?

I would either leave it blank or default to the most used method. I know we are missing some techniques and things in those various drop down menus for the reports. If anyone wants to g through them and give us suggestions now's the time as we upgrade soon.

When I read the reports, and I love to read the reports, I usually only note the "pulldown" info if the discription is incomplete. I think that the sidebar info is useful, but a complete report in the "body" of the post is much more helpful. A format that would be more helpful would be not to have limited choices in the pulldowns but to have blank fields to fill in with limited character count...
Not knowing squat about how to program anything more complicated than my VCR I do not know what I am asking for.

Please forgive me great overlord for my ignorance...

What you would be asking for is to make the information useless... :(

If the fields are not all exactly the same the I can't create statistics from them...and that's really the only reason I added them. With the choice hard coded, I can run reports against the data and find out things like "73% of people reported that Trolling with a Red Wedding Ring on X Lake had good results." With the addition of the HotSpots, you'll be able to tell that "73% of people reported that Trolling with a Red Wedding Ring on X Lake at these exact coordinates has good results".
