I would like to know how the rank system goes here. Something about being a seamen.........again is kind of annoying.

And they go like this:

0 - Seaman
10 - Petty Officer
100 - Warrant Officer
200 - Lieutenant
300 - Commander
600 - Captain
900 - Commodore
1500 - Admiral

Couple more Reel_Nut. Then you'll pull out of the seaman pool.

Don't complain about your rank if you only make 6 posts since mid-May.

100 - Warrant Officer
200 - Lieutenant
300 - Commander
600 - Captain
900 - Commodore
1500 - Admiral

AARON!!! Yue haf som splaning ta due.

You posted up the ranks awhile ago and now there are others. What is the official caste system?

I think advanced member must be if you've donated $30 or more to the site. I'm not sure about "member", I don't think I've seen that title as far as rank.

I was kind of looking forward to the Petty Officer rank , but I am listed as member...how vanilla is that!

...just my $0.02, I think that the entry to start this thread is crude, unimaginative and unnecessary

I think there is a snafu in the system and Petty Officer was bumped. Member and Advanced member came in about a month ago. Not sure where the cutoff line for those two are. There have been no Petty Officers for over a month unless that individual held that rank and hasn't posted since.

Did the software fall back into a previous ranking system?

Still would like to see Chief Petty Officer in the works! LOL

Last time they updated the site, everyone went back to the beginning rank and 0 number of posts. It may happen again when they upgrade next spring, so what is the difference. Hopefully it won't.

Yeah I think you guys are right, I skipped the whole Petty Officer rank and went straight to Member.

I think its
20- member
30- advanced member
100 - warrent officer

at least thats when my ranks changed.

oh by the way, I didnt donate $30 to the site. It was just a change from Petty officer to member.
If in doubt set the hook!

I hope they don't zero everything out also. It's a good tool for me when chatting with others to know a little something about them and looking over past posts by them.

There is another site out there that is looking to go through a major update and they choose to eliminate all the registered members who have zero posts. That would definitely save time, I think. Then after the restart, if you were dumped you can reregister.

So, I have been looking at who and how some folks here on WL.com got their rank. And I'm not got to blast out the handles of those who like to comments with their two cents and pick up rank points. Without being apart of what I believe those who build this websites possible true intentions are. But I feel that true rank should come from constructive REPORTS, not replies.

That's a good idea, but how would we go about judging every comment or reply without stepping on alot of toes and making people upset over what is a trivial issue? The rank thing is just a fun little item on the site for laughs and really doesn't have too much behind it except entertainment value.

After spending time on the site, it's easy to know who knows their stuff and distinguish from those who don't. There are alot of people with just a few posts who I consider to be outstanding fishermen based on what they have inputted. There are some that I am always looking forward to hearing what they have to say. And like you noted, there are some people that do other stuff.

Keep it in perspective. The ranks are more for entertainment than anything else. By the way, I like your handle "Reel_Nut". It's pretty cool.

P.S. I gotta admit that some of my posts haven't always been the greatest either.
