I love to fish. But it is not easy to find areas where I can go. I can walk some. ( though not far) I am a free lance writer so I write about places where folks like me can have quality recreation. I would love to see more input fron other anglers who have limited mobility. We have a Tracker Bass Buggy pontoon boat and I sure love it. I can get in and out of it easy and I do not have to worry about falling out of it if I stand up. This is a real problem for a lot of limited mobility anglers in the more conventional fishing boats because of shape of the boats. Terry and Kay Z

Agreed and when I can I'll try to add this information to the lake overviews.Terry and KayZ wrote:I love to fish. But it is not easy to find areas where I can go. I can walk some. If they build the new docks for Lake Sawyer it is suppose to be wheelchair friendly per my request. I talked to the person in charge of the launch last month and gave him a drawing of what I thought would be a good design. There is a resort on Lake Sawyer and I think their large dock would be easy to get onto with a wheelchair. I'm just not sure on the slope of the yard to get to and from the dock. Something to check out some time.
Lake Meridian has a large dock and I think wheelchairs can get to it easy. I'd have to go check it out to be sure.

Well untill Mike gets a site up and running, you can try www.parks.wa.gov/ada.rec. Then clink on the ADA recreation link. This gives you access to parks in wa state with Handicap accessability.

Offut Lake in Thurston Co. has handicapped access. It also has cabins of all styles. The camp ground also has wi-fi .....

I am slightly Handicapped myself.I dont find any problems accesing the lakes and rivers I fish . I have a blood clotting disorder which limits my walking and lifting but I manage to do pretty good. Most every lake in Wa has Handicap access. I called the parks dept of Seattle and mentioned there wasnt a Hndcp space at the launches and 2 weeks later there were some. All along the Green river in King County there are hndcp spaces. Its not fun having disabilities but I love my lil blue placard.I have a Hncp permit for my hunting license also which really helps. The forest dept gives us a key to unlock closed trails to all rigs except hncp.I find Wa State is very good about this. JMO.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
