As too the topic at hand , I just fished riffe lake this past wkend for summer time bass . We caught fish from 10ft thru 40ft of water , In some cases we found bass suspended off of deep humps in deeper water , we found them tucked in weedlines in shallower water , we found them channel breaks at various depts etc ..Dont get caught up with one set pattern or become one dimensional in your bait or spot selection for the entire day.
My point here is that during the summer months many of times the angler is required too make lots of changes through out the day . I personly look for which pattern is producing the bigger fish , in the riffe lake case , all of our better fish came from the deeper depths 25-40ft but offered less bites ..
Those fish and the cover all played a key roll on the use of electronics as TW mentioned which was very critical . As for baits selection, Dropshot , carolina rig , top water stick baits , flickshake , shaky heads are just some of my go too baits ... The dropshot , carolina rig , and spooks seemed too be the top 3 baits overall ..
I normaly would incorporate cranks & jerkbaits as well during this time of year but for whatever reason those bass on that lake didnt produce enough bites during pratice enough for me too stay with them (listen too the fish) ...
