I'd rather wait on saying a 50 incher has been caught until someone has one where it's not in doubt, as that seems to represent a milestone for many folks. As for it being a great catch, yes it was, and it's still the largest tiger muskie caught on an artificial lure in Washington and also the (unofficial) record for Merwin Lake. Mike is a gifted angler with an uncanny ability to read the water, and has caught the majority of the big fish taken in my boat. Two of his big fish were "first cast" fish. (I define a "big fish" as a tiger muskie that is at least 46 inches and 25 lbs.)
