Lovin' My Fish Creek Inline Spinners

Post by islandbass » Sat May 22, 2010 5:46 am

When I first saw them in person (through the spinner swap) I knew that these guys were winners.

My wife had things to do in South Hill Puyallup and so the kids and I headed to Bradley Lake to pass the time. Despite the weather, I had a feeling the window for catching could still be open. On the way in, two folks were on their way out and one was holding a 20" plus trout. I took that and the multiple swirls on the surface as signs of a fair shake of getting a few.

The use of the wrong rod cost us the first 4 trout (we really weren't prepared for fishing, just one MH spinning rod for bass) in the first spot.

We hit success on the floating dock. 5 trout in about 10 minutes before the Mrs. called to say she was done. I suppose that was okay because it started to rain.

I just wanted to share this here and I will post a better report on the reports page. They caught one each and I caught 3.

FC spinners are awesome!!!!

Nice job!!
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Glad you let the FCS out for a swim. Both kids look like they enjoyed the day, daughter looks like she's done this before, but bet the little guy was excited! No doubt that's an FCS Swing blade Armadillo (red and orange?)

You called it on everything. My daughter has been a trout catchin' master since day one, and my son is just getting into it.

The ones you sent had single hooks and I really liked this over the traditional treble as it made clearing gunk and grass that the kids didn't want to clear because it's gross. :compress:

You can't go wrong with fishcreek. Some of the best spinners I've run with in quite a while, and I've run with A LOT of spinners!

Well, trollin' em is pretty simple. Some of the tricks I use are adjusting depth according to where the fish are hitting and tipping the pole to give the spinner that lifelike action that drives the fish nuts. Trolling speed also plays a big part. Hopefully that helps you all out a little.

Well said! It's a numbers game, afterall.

Luckily that day, I found the depth they preferred to hit about 1' below the surface. They didn't care for it on the surface or below it.

What do you mean by tipping the pole? Jig it up and down?

Thanks

for trolling speed watch the action of your pole it is the best indicator of the correct speed for the desired set-up. A certain speed will give each spinner different action.:salut:

I haven't trolled w/ spinners much. Mostly just catch and retrieve.

I took my daughter out this morning to one of my favorite lakes. We gave the spinners a try for a while at a variety of speeds. Got some hits, but only 1 hookup which got off as we were reeling it in.

So I switched to my tried and true trolling lures. Hadn't planned on keeping any, but wound up keeping 2 - one because it was bleeding from being hooked near the gills and the other I just couldn't bear letting go.

Of course the big one hit the UL rod w/ the 4# line - which made it just a blast to fight in. Probably one of the best fights I've had from a trout (excluding steelhead).

Make that, Get in the woods as often as you can.

Went out last weekend to check out Willow Creek, south of Walden, CO. Water was still running over the tops of the beaver dams and basically too much snowmelt and too high to fish. Saw four Moose while out.

Here's a young bull, just nubbing out. Standing in the budding willow brush on the far bank. Also saw a few cows, but stayed away from them. Probably they had calves close.
