Marshall Lake Get-Together

Post by Lotech Joe » Fri Mar 26, 2010 3:08 am

RATS, I CAN'T MAKE IT

Well, it looks like I'm tentatively planning another impromptu Marshall Lake gathering. I'm planning on the Father's Day weekend, Fri, Sat & Sun, June 18-20. Nothing special, just fishing, camping, eating and sharing stories. A short bible study is planned each morning and evening for those interested. Everyone is invited but everyone is in charge of their own expenses. The town of Newport Washington is just 7 miles away for those seeking brick and mortar lodging. Here is a link to the contact information.

I hope to see lots of WL.com folks there.

I'M GOING LIST;
Lotech Joe & wife Linda
Patrick and wife Erin and 2 daughters
Patrick's brother
Patrick's dad
Sean & Debbie
hewesfisher
Jim & April

PM or Email me and let me know if you'll be there.

Sounds interesting, two questions: Are there any boat or boat motor restrictions? And second, is there a swimming beach?

No boat/motor restrictions, BUT there is a 5mph speed limit on the lake. I think there's a swimming spot, but no positive. Check out the Marshall Lake video in the video section. :)

EDIT: That might be a deal breaker weekend for us. Have a graduation in Salem OR the weekend prior and my son's wedding the weekend after the planned outing. Don't think we'll be able to swing it with everything going on, time will be a precious commodity then. [sad]

There is a 5mph speed limit on the lake. It's only about 200 acres. A great place for canoes, kayaks, float tubes, pontoon boats or large boats willing to travel slow. Not sure about the swimming beach. Check with the resort for those answers. They do have boat rentals. I use a 12' jon boat and row all over the lake.

As far as a nice sandy swimming beach, no. People do swim in the lake, but it is fairly cold being a high mountain lake.

We'll miss being there too. Depending how things play out, we might sneak away on Saturday, but we're not making concrete plans for any activities until after the wedding. [sad]

I hate to do this, but health issues force me to cancel my participation at the Father's Day Marshall Lake Outing. If you wish to go anyway, keep posting your intent and you can have a get-together with others who decide to attend. It's a beautiful lake and it makes for a very peaceful weekend. Those of you who decide to attend, ENJOY. I wish I could make it, but it's not to be for me.
I will PM, email or contact in person, all who have indicated they would like to go.
Blessings,
Lotech Joe
