Carved lures
My son Ben just gave me a new keepsake that he carved and painted. Its the spotted gold and orange with the glass bird eyes. I finally decided to put some of his art together in a slideshow and it ended up good enough to share.

Those are really cool! I'd be too scared to fish with them in that I wouldn't want to lose one.

Very nice! On average how much time goes into one of those?
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Lots of Hrs each. I think the carving is quick but the paint jobs are multi-layer and pretty time consuming due to the dry times and design work.

RE:Carved lures
In the day, OK quite some time ago, I would carve out my own creations. It was the only way to get what I wanted. Some were excellent to fish with, but most were not as good as what I could buy.
I don't do it much anymore now that I can buy unpainted options from so many catalogs, but ................... I may do it again some time.

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
