Newbie to McNary and the Columbia River

Hello fellow walleye fisherman,
I am new to this site and to fishing the Columbia River. I actually have fished walleye quite a lot as I grew up in Minnesota but have lived in Arizona for nearly 30 years. This coming June (2012) I will be staying at Plymouth Rock State Park for a couple days and will have my boat with me. I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer up some "starting spots". I will be fishing with two Oregon natives that have neither caught nor fished walleye before. I have a 16' Lund w/50 Merc tiller so I think I will be okay on the river as long as I use good judgement. I am aware of the wind direction and current direction and the situations it can create. I actually lived in The Dalles about 30 years ago but never fished the river. Again, not looking for GPS coordinates but more some good sound advise and general starting points, tackle etc:
Any and all help would be appreciated!
Thanks
