i have 14lb sufix seige tangerine and i mean its orange line. i havent caught a fish on it yet. it seems fishy to me:dwarf:

I use yellow fireline and do just fine boating fish. there are too many factors that go into a good catch. All I know is when you get a success, duplicate the effort, place, and technique for that day and see if it is pattern or luck. It always changes.

If your leader is clear and high Grade these colored lines are fine if your leader sports color throw the whole mess in the Drink!:cheers:
Maxima Treasure Z= Clear main and Max Flora leaders clear and I support other leaders but the bottom line there Clear other then Sturgeon of Flatties/Halibut all the colored lines ((the only thing they do well is tracking them down a seam or river system)). TO SEE= YA THINK#-o

Bright lines are made so we fishermen can see them. On a dark rainy day when drift fishing you can follow a bright line a lot easier than a clear or neutral tint. I either use a swivel or uni knot a 4' clear leader on so the fish don't see the bright line in their face. I use yellow Power Pro on my float rods and I use the tangerine Suffix in 30 lb for running line when I use shooting heads on the bug rod.

I like to watch my line when I'm doing certain types of fishing, like when fish hit while the bait is falling. but for me its more important that a fish doesn't see your line than that I can see my line. thats kinda confusing... most the time I can still see my line even if its clear so i don't worry about it. as far as fish being line shy well I have never had any hard evidence that fish are line shy. in conclusion i think the bright line is pretty worthless because its one more thing you have to worry about screwwing up you chances of catching fishing that day. if you have any doubt that its fooling fish just put a few feet of leader between your lure and your mainline.

If there's heavy fishing pressure or fish are being non aggressive, it does make a difference.

So what I'm hearing is, fishing line should be clear and colored line is just BLING. Personally I have always used clear line and can't recall ever being outfished by bling.

It's all about clear line. I used to wonder the same thing and I tried a neon green once when fishing for bass and caught nothing. Then I switched over to clear and fished the exact same spot just moments afterwards and caught three ranging from 2-4 lbs. I dont know if it depends on the species or not, but clear is all I ever use for any species now daysa

line size matters too. I like to use the clearest, smallest diameter line my stomach can handle. I will routinely fish for bass on 4lb test mono or flourocarbon. I might get the occasional break off, but I get way more bites than the better fishermen in my boat, in clear water situations. I live near a fairly high pressure lake so it makes all the difference.

Stow that colored line unless you are fishing at night, or use a leader...

Line color and size do matter, sometimes. Sometimes, line color and size do not matter.

I fish a lot with clear line, but in a super clear lake I actually have found that a moss or smoke tint seems to do better for trout and Steelhead. Having said that, a guy the fishes with me on occation did well last year on one of those clear lakes with me while he was using black fire line, but the thin 10# line.

I have tried colored lines for Steelhead, and the yellow line, even with the long leaders, does not work well for me. I have caught fish, but my catch rates drop about 50%.

Now, for Bass, I don't think they care at all.

Tangerine line? Who knows, but the Cajun red line seems to disapear fairly soon as the depth increases. Red light does not go much deeper then about 10 feet, so who knows.

Personally, I prefer to use low vis lines, just because colored lines don't normally attract fish. Now, I said normally, because I do know of one time where it did, but that is a long story.
