Is there some kind of resource somewhere, where someone that wants to just get into salmon fishing (saltwater, not so interested in river fishing) can see what is running, what time of year, what area?

A friend has a home/boat on bainbridge that we could use occasionally but has no knowledge of where/when to go so I thought I'd ask.

thx

do you know if trying for anything off the piers right now (86) would be worthwhile?

Most likely only squid...Every once in a while some dude is there throwing out chunks of herring and pulling up dogfish and flounder and stuff, and it seems like theres also quite often a blackmouth that is enticed by the lights and commonly will just casually swim along just under the surface at night. Your best off using your buddies boat at bainbridge and running north to Indianola or Jefferson Head...

Try looking at some stuff on Salmon U. They show all the productive areas in the sound and when to fish certain area's on certain tides. Should help a lot. Plus they give fishing reports so check that out too.
