Just a thought. If you are going to drive to the west side, you might consider Westport and a charter trip. I am not sure on the season though as I left my Rules Pamphlet in my buddy's boat yesterday after crabbing and trying for kings. If it's open, that might be a great way to get out on the water and catch some salmon. I am sure there are salmon opportunities from the bank somewhere, I just don't know where. Good luck.

Are you totally committed to salmon?
Just talked with my Lt at work, his kid has been getting strong numbers fishing TUNA out about 20-30 miles off the Columbia river bar. Day trips only so a charter could pack in some serious numbers (remember tuna have no limits). Good way to make the best of a summer weekend charter or fishing trip by getting out offshore and hitting it up.
Salmon is spotty from what Im hearing, though you can always count on the Area 7 blackmouth fishery to produce limited but consistent fish.
Im trying to get The Thumb excited about a salmon trip to Buoy 10 in a few weeks, we will see how that goes. Later in Aug is more consistent for the kings and silvers coming into the rivers.

I would try seacrest pier on alki beach. I would run a point wilson dart in white or green and i would use 15-20 pound test and it is as easy as that
