from Westport - suggestions??
Folks, I will be in Moclips for a week at the end of the month and want to fish. I see that there are boats out of Westport. Is that my best bet? Does anyone have experience with the boats there? Are there any recommendations? Thanks.

Westport is great for charter fishing. It is about an hour or so drive from Moclips. Most of the charter companys are good, But you had better call and make reservations soon, they are quite busy in the summer.
Google Westport Charters, Deep sea Charters, or Ocean Charters. You can also fish for Surf Perch and Bottom fish from the jettys in westport.

As a long time resident of Westport I would say fish from the boardwalk. The jetty is alot of work to walk and dont the safest for family time.
Best Charters? Remember you get what you pay for. Deep Sea and Westport Charters do a great job and have probably the most time on the water. Anouther good charter is Advantage charters. Keep in mind most of the boats are fishing for tuna now so if you want to go bottom fishing make your plans asap.
Good luck.

Folks, Thanks for taking the time and interest to send your suggestions. I am still working out the schedule that I will have when visiting your area. I will make a reservation ASAP as suggested. I will also check out the charter boats you recommend. Is there still fishing in the boats for salmon or is that over? I am on a tighter budget than I want and may have to rule out tuna fishing. Further suggestions are encouraged.

NICE OCEAN - DRIZZLE IN THE AM - SUNNY PM - LESS THAN A ROUND BUT NICE QUALITY - KINGS TO 33 - COHO TO 14. SEASON WILL PROBABLY GO TO 7 DAYS PER WEEK STARTING FRIDAY, AUGUST 15.
I would call a charter and ask them if salmon will be open when you are there.

Folks, Thanks for the suggestions. I have a charter booked in Westport for bottom fishing. I was able to get one that has only 6 persons fishing. I had hoped ffor a slamon trip but that isn;t on weekends. Hope to catch and eat a few.

Folks,
We did great off Westport today. We went out with Deep Sea Charters on the Scooter. There were just 6 people fishing and the capt. and mate. Both were excellent - knowledgeable, patient and personable. We caught limits of black and copper rockfish with a few others mixed in. We caught no keeper ling cod. It was an excellent and productive trip, thanks to you forum folks who wrote in with ideas.
