Black rockfish (seabass) off the edmonds pier?

i saw 6 sea bass caught yesterday! i caught 5 of them and some other woman caught the other one. Is it rare to sea sea bass caught off the edmonds pier this time of year? is there any tips tricks and teqinecs to catch them?

I fished for sea bass alot over the years and found that white was a good color.....buzz bombs and just a white rag or even a t'shirt scrap. I would think a white hoochie would work. I would catch a lot up in Pt Angeles, Townsend and Richmond beach. If the bass are there now there will be more. They always come in schools and usually stick around for several weeks.

Not off the Edmonds public gig#-o but a few spots and edges with the correct incoming tide and jig to still score:compress: :cheers: Scent and a bait strip a must as well loads of fun!:cheese:

in that photo what kind of rockfish is that?




and where did you catch that lingcod, rockfish, and that sea trout?

Looks like a Copper Rockfish to me...

That last fish isn't a sea trout, rather its a Kelp Greenling...

The Seabass at the Edmonds pier always seem to show up after the rockfish season has ended. Same thing with most of the larger rockfish

Late September / October around 2 pounds plus. A guy you may have heard of named Jos's - who hasn't been at the pier for about a year or so caught two I don't recall the exact species in March ish or April both were over 5 pounds easy.

oh i think i know him... what it a quillback. if it is a sea bass or a copper then that unormal for the pier!
