does anyone know when and what type of salmon fun up the duwamish river which connects to elliott bay? how do you fish for these off the mouth of the river?

Pinks, Chums, Coho and Kings run up the Duwamish to the Green.
Pinks in August/Sept,
Kings in July-Sept,
Coho in Sept/Oct/Nov.
Chum in Oct/Nov/Dec.
Steelhead November thru April.

how would you go after them? time of day? current?

There are alot of ways to fish the Duwamish.I spend alot of time on the Duwie.Right now there are (supposedly) steelhead in the Duwamish.The Duwamish and the Green are one in the same.Its the Duwamish to Tukwilla.Then it becomes the Green.I fish the Duwamish on a high outgoing tide using a Pyramid sinker on the bottom with two Spin n' Glos on the line.One has Roe other has Sand shrimp.Depending on bait availability.(how lazy I get).The Duwamis is netted pretty hard all season long.

I worked in Seattle Harbor for 20+ years and found that the best place for kings and most other salmon is off the Emerald Sea Dry Dock's North or open end. The water is dredged out there and the kings will lay on the bottom there before going up the river. I have caught hundreds of salmon there over the years. I used Buzz bombs and fished the tides both high water slacks and the best was at night under the lights. Another great place was just before the Spokane St. Bridge on the east side. Good spot for all species. There are several small parks along the river and they are great places to catch em. The river is quite narrow and easy to cast to the middle. I never fished farther up the river than Terminal 128 so somebody else will have to help you from there.
The river is fairly deep with a muddy bottom and has some logs on the bottom also so be careful. The river is best fished on the incoming tide I have found. I used jigs and spoons up the river from the Spokane St bridge and have done quite well on the Steelhead, Kings and Silvers.
