Northwest Fishing Reports

Hello,

I just moved to the area a few weeks ago and was wondering if any of you would mind sharing some information. I looking to stay around the greater tocoma (south sound) area but unclear what and where I should start this time of year. I have my boat and riggers ready just need some help getting started.

you can start at the claybanks off of pt. defiance park in tacoma. That's a popular spot this time of year. From reports i'm hearing and reading the blackies action is picking up.

Welcome to WA and WALakes.com. You will find a great group of folks who are for the most part more than willing to give out information to anyone looking for it. I'm not real familiar with fishing spots in your area, I live in the north west portion of WA. I do want to tell you that in late August, through September the pink salmon will be in our salt waters in very large numbers. The limit is 4 per person per day (unless they change that this year which I doubt they will do), and it’s a great fishery. Just something to look forward to. Crabbing also opens the first of July (at least it usually opens then) and it's also a great fishery most of us salt water folks look forward to and love. Anyway, you will get many suggestions as the weekend unfolds. Again welcome and good luck fishin.

Troll herring or coyote spoons with a hotspot flasher start trolling at the landslide on the hill and troll towards the east. You should find the shelf in 140ft. of water. or you can go across the water and fish the incoming tide change at pt. dalco with a jig or mooch a herring.

Hoping the weather will hold so I can get out tomorrow. I'm thinking of launching at Pt D and heading to the area you pointed out. This will be interesting because this is all new to me. It would be nice to bring something home on the first outing. Also I'd better read up on the regs out here. They seem to be pretty cumbersome.
Suggestions are greatly appreciated……

I fish damn near everything..... I enjoyed a great year fishing tiger muskie last year and even did ok on the columbia river, but now that I live here with the PS in my back yard I thought I better learn to fish that too. Never done the salt before.

Make sure you clean you motor out of the saltwater.

Dex Press the Salt it has 10 times the gifts of any fresh water:-$ and way more goodies to chase where there right, chrome, hard , sealice fighting machines!
Salmon All and each , Lings, Flatties and 25 more to list .

Real Sportsfishing lives and dies in the Salt= warm waters or cold other then Metalheads then the game is better fresh!

You also have to flush more then your motors main and kicker as the the entire boat and trailer needs to be cleaned with fresh water and soup each and every trip or you will find troubles and push N and West for a better chance at Greatness!

This season will be a Blood bath of stacking meat for a few Pirates that press:rambo:

I just stoped by Narrows and think I might go ahaed and try a few things out tomorrow, depending on the weather of course. The people there are very helpful and I didn't get the feeling they were just trying to sell something. NICE PLACE...... Anyway I'm going to try a little trolling and if that dont work I'll try some mouching. A day on the water even if I don't know what I'm doing is still a great day.

Weather...It is snowing nicely at my house.

Well I made it out today and I'm sure I was some other fisherman had a good laugh.... I learned some lessons out there, I did realize how fast the current would be so every time I would get in a fishing spot and drop my riggers I was 200 yards away LOL. Oh well on in fun. I was able to at least pull in a rockfish and let him go then my buddy hooked a crab.

All and All we had fun that’s what counts, I'll get better
