Post by surenough » Tue Apr 14, 2009 12:14 am

I have not fished since I was a kid, now I need to learn again and teach my kids. I have a 8'6" lamiglas rod w/ a Abu Garcia open reel 12 lb and a Abu Garcia 8' 6" rod w/ a 5500 c4 20 lb. I have been reading a lot of posts and wanted to make sure on lures, size, weights etc. (like I said Im new - new!)Going to use buzzbombs and point wilson darts off Edmonds pier......what else for salmon? Any advice suggestions would be great. Thanks and I look forward to being part of this community!

i wouldnt say this is the best timeof the year for salmon ](*,) but you can certainly try :D i have had most luck on green/white and just plain white. most of the time they hang quite a ways out on the south end of the pier. Never go really early or you'll have to fight to fish ^_^ it heats up mid june-end of august.
See you out there =]

Yeah, combat fishing, not much fun. :eye:
Here is a big tip for fishing for salmon off the Edmonds pier....a crab ring. The pier is quite a ways above the water, especially at low tide and people use crab rings as nets to get the fish up to the pier. Sounds like you've got the other gear to get started. Good luck and tight lines.

Start searching through all the old posts in this section...

There are tons of valuable threads with great information...

Buzz bombs, jigs, herring under a float, spoons, etc., will all take fish. Get out there, see what others are doing and whats working and duplicate it. Fish where the fish are and you should have some success. Like others said, right now isn't the best time to start catching salmon off the shore, but wait until mid August and the Puget Sound will be flooded with pink salmon, which are easy to catch.
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....

You know, this has to be hands down the best forum I have ever participated in. This little bit of info has been useful and I am going through lots of old threads as I type. Anybody that would like to meet up and share some info, that would be very appriciated ----heck just some conversation would be great.

I purchased a Point Wilson Dart (white), some Buzzbombers, some rooster tails, jigs, etc. Plan on doing lots of fresh water fishing too, like I said I can be down to edmonds most days from 7am to 3pm, then work #-o

Talk to you guys (ladies) soon!
