Again use to catch Hake and Pacific Cod off that pier back in the 80's with little or no effort at dusk. Use to shrimp there all the time but haven't for the last couple years - and haven't really seen anybody else doing it either. Use to have some nice Silver perch more often at the ferry dock when they would let people fish of the foot traffic bridge before they did the remodel... dang that was kind of fun.

Stealhead.. you will see em race by but I'm not sure if anybody's ever got one. Pinks - wait til summer. If a nice school comes in and some kings are under it... wooo fun fun and get cranky if you can't get under the pinks. That was the one time you could look over the edge... see what seemed like hundreds of fish and jig and catch.

Yellow tails are a no no period I believe. Check the regs on that one. I don't usually target rock fish. I will chase Lings for about a week or two during the start of the season but if a King hits at any point I decide to forget the Ling-thing.

Dogfish - now why in the world would you want to catch one of them? I caught 8 over the last few years the largest would have been great if it had been a King. They really don't fight they simply sit dere and all your doing is dragging it in. And remember don't grab the tail of the fish without gloves on. They will be in the mess with the Pinks and Kings and Silvers by August however.

They fight for the first few seconds until you get them off the bottom and then turn sideways on you until you get it near the surface and then its a torked off fish again.

Its not as much fun as catching the high 25 + that seems to be full of vroom and starts stripping line off like a fish outta hell. Which is dang fun until you look at the spool and start wondering "Did I tie a knot at the end or not?"

Worse yet is you can see the knot in the line and the new question is how tight is that knot... finally going not very tight.

I had one that did that and the line snapped with about 6 feet of line left... didn't even get to test the knot... wooo hoooo.
