Just wondering where some good spots are to plunk the cowlitz?
I've been below barrier dam before and below trout hatchery. Are either of these places good for plunking? (When I went we were drift fishing)
Any info on how to catch chinook as opposed to steelhead or do I just plunk away and I get what I get?

Also- any preference on type of sinker?
Most places I read pyramid sinkers but my rod is only rated for up to 1 oz. I know I can't still plunk as long as I swing it into the river as opposed to cast it in, but would it be advantageous for me to use a "bank sinker", "disc sinker". "Cannonball sinker" or just the pyramids I've heard about? Or as long as it stays on the bottom that's what matters?

There was a good thread here about plunking Cowlitz last year or the year before so search for that, I thought it may have been AJfishdude. There was a good description of the set-up and some locations to try. Last time I was by Barrier dam there were a couple guys plunking by the boat launch, using herring on one rod and brads cut plug on another. I think thy had a few ounces of a pyramid weight.
You should have no problem using 3-6 Oz. of weight with that rod as long as you just swing it out there.
