Set for the season

I took a couple rod building classes this winter, built a fly rod and a spinning rod. My results have been hit and miss, but I've got the bug bigtime! This summer has been super busy; we bought a new house, which has sucked up most of my time. There have also been big birthdays, anniversaries, a couple trips, and boom...here comes football season!

I am setting up the rec room with a table to build rods on while I watch the games. While I haven't done much wrapping since we moved in, I have slowly stockpiled some blanks and supplies to work with. I bought three Rainshadow steelhead/salmon blanks a while back, as well as a pair of flylogic rod blanks. I also scored ten NOS fiberglass blanks for $75, all in kind of neat earth tones - reds, yellows and browns. I bought 2 piece blanks in different colors for Christmas presents: a gold one to put purple wraps on for my wife (GO HUSKIES!!!), a white one to put blue wraps on for my MIL, and a Navy one to put brown wraps on for my FIL. I finished my shopping up by buying a bunch of broken St. Croix rods to scavenge guides from, and several lots of cork, reel seats, winding checks, butt caps and threads. I guess I am pretty well set to sit my ass down and watch some football!!!

What do you have planned for the winter?
