Fresh Ice!!!
Fellas, if I wasn't leaving WA, I'd be upset about this latest cold front, and complaining incessantly about not being able to launch my pontoon on Medical and Amber! This is gonna be another one of those years when those lake will be ice fished! At this rate, it will be the third week of March before they open up.
Is this ice going to upset anybody's early Spring schedule?

JKay, N. Silver is closed for the time being, no access due to a dispute with the land owner. Broke my heart last year, it had/has some mighty fine bows in it and, like Silver is only a couple miles from the house.
One of my buddies fished Amber through the ice a year or two ago and did real well on some type of minnow jig. I gotta believe you could get them at Medical, too. Just leave the bait at home, fellas, for these are "selective regulations" lakes!
Wow, I noticed something really weird at Silver today. While shoveling out an area to set up my Eskimo shelter, I discovered a gusher.......ie, a hole that didn't freeze over due to the snow cover. Water was coming up out of that thing like a geyser! Well, not quite, but I'd never seen anything like that before. It should have been frozen over and would have been excet for the snow cover. Ditto for the holes I drilled later in a different area. I was in a half inch of water within a couple minutes of drilling. Must be the pressure from several thousand tons of fresh snow on the ice. The launch area was sloppy wet along the bank, too, despite single digit temps. No cracking and buckling noises today, it wasn't "making ice" like it should be in this kind of cold. IMO the snow acts like a blanket, insulating it.

I'm tempted to go ice fish Liberty a few more days to go and it should be ready. I'm not sure about the ice on the lake but I'll try to venture out sometime soon...

You wouldnt need to build a bridge.Meeks9591 wrote:Of course it is! I'm ready to go now! Oh well there's only 1 option now... Cry a river, Build a bridge and Get over it.
WA would freeze the river, then
you could walk right over it.
