First pull only had 6 keepers, then the next pull we had 8 in one pot, lol. The the string after that we had about 9 or 10 keepers we had to let go. Got out 15 in under 2 hours and called it a day.

Heading back out there this afternoon.
That's great news Matt. Sounds like the Tribes and commercial folks didn't crab in Everett. When they do, the numbers aren't generally like the ones you saw. My fishin buddy it out there right now. I'm waiting for his call and report. We have a couple of sweet spots out there in 8-2 that produce well when not cleaned out in June. I'm betting based of your numbers that he also did well. Enjoy and have a shot for me!

I had a great experience this opener. Took the pots out on thurs morning. I was fully expecting to sit out and guard the pots. I noticed one of the neighbors out in his big boat anchored next to where we set the pots. After setting them he waved us over. He said he'd be sitting out there all day. I told him just to phone if got low on beverages and I'd run some out. Last year he had 4 pots stolen. Funny we didn't have the random boats just cruising through and hanging around. Picked the pots twice a day. We had 4 licenses in the gang and caught enough to have to go back and high grade when we got to last pot. It was a very good opener!!!

I went out Saturday to North Camano. I got 3 keepers in a single pot. My back was still a lil sore and didnt want to aggravate it. So I did anyways. I pull and I was hurting. Packed up loaded the boat back up drove home cooked crab with a very sore lower back and said to myself " Hmmmm I feel old".

I just talked with a friend in Westport. The funny thing is down there he had to throw alot back because they are starting to get soft shelled from molting.

Bodofish- U got it JUST RIGHT!

Ahhhhh sometimes I wish I hadda boat and pots instead of rings for traps and the local pier LOL. U guys are making it look easy. Way ta go felluhs!

I got one keeper dungie on the opener but otherwise remained skunked on dungies at the local pier for the weekend (went out Sunday as well). Guess maybe I'll have to wait to head out to the coast or somethin' to get some o' them keeper quality dungies.

Beeeautiful pics. Hope everyone had themselves a safe quality holiday weekend!

When Crabbing are there rules on baits to be used? I generally use chicken or turkey parts. Sometimes I add salmon heads or spine bones with meat. Can you use canned dogfood? Anyone?

You can use canned cat food for shrimp, so no reason you shouldn't be able to use dog food for crab. We usually use chicken, but I'll use any scrap fish carcass or clams I can get too. It all works.

Rac, after trying all kinds of bait over the years, I think fresh chicken works the best although I'm sure opinions vary. I crabbed today, just submitted my report. Saw three big boats loaded with commercial grade crab gear pass by us today heading towards Camano Island State Park. Pissed me off!! I'm so tired of the State of WA allowing this. I’m sure they will take hundreds of unregulated crab by dark if not by tomorrow morning.

I totally agree! Send them out to westport or off the coast for commercial crabbing. For all the restrictions we have in this state, its ashame they allow that. And that is commercial of ANY kind. Even the ones sold in the back of trucks.
