NEW STUFF

Post by Amx » Thu Oct 06, 2011 4:51 pm

Well, this is going to be confusing.

1] my bookmark doesn't work, checked lots of times today with nothing from that bookmark. Finaly used yahoo to search for WaLakes.

2] the curser line thing that shows where you are typing doesn't show up when you click where you want to type.

3] showed a new pm, couldn't find it

4] active topics not on the same page as the rest of the forums like it was before. So if there are more than 10 threads replied to, then when I read the topics I want to read, refresh the page, then look at the list of forums to see what else is there because if there are more than 10, then not all show up in the list of 'active topics', before clicking on 'mark all read' - can't do that now.

5] don't see a link to 'mark all as read'.

6] odd color/alignment/orginization of the pages, can that be changed?

I'll think of more as I figure this out.

1: Correct. Bookmarks are invalid now. Update it.
2: Don't know what to tell you about that.. I've never noticed that happening in Chrome or IE.
3: I think it does that just to have everyone go to their inbox and see how things are organized.. not sure why, but it only happens the first time you login.
4: Correct. Unanswered, Unviewed, New, and Active topics are links towards the top of the forum page.
5: N/A
6: Note sure what you're seeing that you classify as odd. There are a few things here and there that need to be iron out still. It was better to get back online and work them out ONLINE rather than stay offline any longer. And no, there probably won't be anything you can do to change them once we're done. Let me know what you think is odd and I'll take a look.

Ok, another problem I'm going to have is when I read a thread, post/reply, then look for it in 'not answered, not replied to, active topics', that thread, etc. won't show up at all. THEN I'll have LOTS of trouble finding it again as I'll have to go thru every forum and every thread/topic to find it as I almost never remember what forum any thread is in when I only followed the 'active topics' which I do on every web site/forum I visit/am a member of. Sometimes I don't even remember what thread I was reading. So if I think of something, I can't go back and post again any new/thought of info. I tried that a little bit ago, and Arron's reply to me wasn't listed in the 'not read, not replied to, active topics'. The only reason I saw it was when I read down thru the list of forums. So if someone had replied to another thread in that forum, I'd have not even seen his/your reply to me.

Just so you understand what I'm use to read/following, check here the web site I'm on all day as I am on here all day, and it can be such a problem for me to change anything/anywhere;

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/pos ... Board=Test

It's a list of everything in that piticular forum on that web site. Just go down the list until I find the thread I want, click, reply, done. The other forums on that web site, same thing.

Thanks.

Yup.

But no 'active topics' are listed. If there is a reply, then I'd think that would be an 'active topic'. :)

Hi, BTW your front page is broken. It says it's a server side error and dumps a bunch of error info:

And it looks like you have to go to the home page to get to the fishing reports, and all those other menues across the top. And you have to go look just to see if any reports have been posted instead of the number showing up when the page is refreshed.

Oh ya, the page I have showing on my computer is the list of forums. not the home page. Should be quicker to see any new replies and posts that way.

It will take a bit getting used to, I like the advanced search options! However, the "active topics" link appears to be a dead end. Doesn't matter if you select last day, last 7 days or last year, it comes up with zero posts.

Me, too. And I had my premium membership taken away. ](*,)
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

I found that the active topics didn't work...but view new posts does.
Could it be since it is new that the active topics is toooo new?
Therefore, use the view new posts at the board index page.

I'm assuming for now that the Active Topics thing works but it's just too new. There really isn't a part of the new forum that doesn't work.

I also went from a premium member to a general member. I tried going to my profile and it would not let me do so. I know that Aaron works hard at this and we should all appreciate what he does. I am sure he will work out all the bugs.

This should all be working correctly now. I'm now aware of any large bugs left.

What does the scrolling icon on the left mean?
Why is there a star on some of the icons?

Can't help you with the first question, but the answer to the second one is that shows up for individual topics you've posted to. Now you can scroll through topics and immediately see if you've replied to them. I really like that addition! [thumbup]

I think the scrolling icons are considered "Hot" posts/topics.

And a "Hot" topic is defined as one having 25 or more replies to it.
