Looking for a float rod

Looking for a spinning rod and reel combo.

I fish from a drift boat for salmon/steelhead and I need a good float pole. Would like to be under $200 for the combo, hoping for some eyelets that are big enough to pass bobber stops though without catching.

What are you guys using??? How long? Medium? heavy? Fast?

Flinginpooh's rod is a shorter one, it'd work, but better for drift fishing. Actually awesome rod, I'd like to trade for it, but I don't have anything he needs. I'd recommend the new shimano convergence rods. Or an okuma sst. Or something that you pick up that feels perfect in the shop. The 10' 6" rods are awesome, they have a 6-10 and a 4-6 that are awesome. I got a 20+ king with the 4-6 rod.

Okuma rods are good bargains. SSTs have a bunch of eyes and nicer finish. I actually prefer the cheaper one, Celios, faster blanks and lighter. I use 9'6" rods, I'm also a bankee. I tried the longer rods on bait casters, but it wasn't balanced at all.

Reels, best buck out there is the President Pfluggers, 60 bucks for a smooth reel. The durability is okay, never had any problems, my buddies doesnt close any more after reeling anymore.

I 2nd the Okuma SST line - can't beat em for about $60 (IMO).
I also 2nd the Pfluger President spinning reels, have a few and again for $60 you can't beat em. For a step up on the spinning reel I picked up a couple Diawa Tierras in the last couple years for about $100 and really like em.

The 1265c loomis is a 10'6 rod nate. How much longer ya want

I will try to get out of work early tomorrow and check out a the okuma and shimano rods, worked 14 hrs today so shopping after work didnt happen

Hey Pooh, I must have misread your add as I thought your poles were all under 9 foot. what do you want for you spinning pole?

I went with the Okuma SST with a phluger president reel and have been very happy with it. Alot of bang for not much buck.

Thanks for the info guys, I bought a Flugger president and a Okuma SST 10'-6" and it seems like a good combination. It has the feel of my Loomis rods without the price tag
