There is always Idaho, if you really need to catch pike,,
I have $60,000 invested in a boat, motor, gear and baits all to catch a fish with a brain the size of a pea. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: In Memory of the Pend Orielle Pike
Do any of you pikeheads know if the gill netting is a 1 year thing or is it going to be netted every year for awhile? thanks
Re: In Memory of the Pend Orielle Pike
Well speaking of Idaho, I am happy to report that we just returned from a weekend trip in Couerd'alene fishing the chain lakes with Mark Mills. It was a phenomenal opportunity and one that will always stick with me. My Little Man finally caught his very First Northern Pike and my buddy from Georgia finally also caught his very First Pike as well!!!
So I am happy to report we now have 2 more members who are psyched for Pike and are extremely excited to join the Pike Family! I owe a HUGE Thanks to Mark Mills and his wife for everything and can't wait to get back over to Idaho in the future to get into some more Pike. Granted I wish it were the Pend Oreille but sometimes we just have to move forward and let uneducated things fall to the wayside. Just remember that sometimes human error can be more detrimental in the long run, so don't think that the Pend Oreille is finished for good. I say that over time this river may be better than it ever was and things will be back to what they once were. Pictures to follow

Re: In Memory of the Pend Orielle Pike
They plan on gill netting every year as long as they are at a certain catch rate in their nets.....
Re: In Memory of the Pend Orielle Pike
Hey Craig,
Well let's just say that certain sources are revealing that Gill Netting on the Pend Oreille is being funded by certain organizations that will eventually either run the other way due to looking for more money, or will run out before they can continue destroying this great fishery! Hopefully this is true and the focus will go other routes, but I guess we won't know for sure at least for the next few years. Well on a positive note, I can tell you that an Idaho or Canada Fishing License really isn't that bad in price even for a non resident. I will gladly go either way to catch these Monster Fish!
One of my coworkers and I are currently maybe trying to plan a trip to hit the Pend Oreille River in Canada near the end of the summer to see if there is any truth to the Pike Fishing being outstanding on that end since Canada LOVES Pike!!! Did I mention I Love Fishing in Canada! Can't say I am a big fan of the roads, but they do one heck of a job taking care of the lakes and rivers.
