This is a big one. Brian Blake, Chair of House NR Committee has scheduled a committee hearing on SB 5127 for Tuesday morning in House Hearing Room "B", John L. O'Brien Building,
Olympia, WA at 8AM.
Polly has given Tug the go-ahead to testify on this bill, so he will do so. We need, at least, an appearance from our membership to sign in the register in OPPOSITION to this bad piece and ill timed legislation. If you plan to appear in Olympia, will you please let me know by tomorrow, or Monday AM at the latest, via email. Showing up in force is important. If any of your own legislators is on this particular committee it is doubly important. It is important to make personal telephone calls to legislators on the committee on Monday morning to ask them to oppose this bill.
I expect the deck to be stacked against us, so to speak, at least in this hearing. We need large numbers of bodies for a sign of political power to help us. Many of you have gone way out of your way to help defeat this bill, and your hard work on this is really appreciated.
If you plan on coming to Olympia on Tuesday morning, please realize that parking is a nightmare. You have to be early to find a space. There is a legislative shuttle bus that will transport you from Capitol Lake to the legislative buildings, but I don't know the details of when it starts, so I'm no help there. My advice is to carpool if you can. Please wear proper attire.
