Post by flinginpooh » Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:03 pm

Ok I understand that in the 80s loomis had a lil company called LCI Loomis composite Inc. Has anyone had one of these and are they a good rod? Thinkin of gettin one and just a lil curious.

I've got 3 LCI casting rods for sale. They haven't been used much at all. 1 for 'jerkin', 1 for 'topper', 1 for 'crank-n-spin'. Kind of a set.

Come spring time I plan on turning them into spinning rods.

Yeah wrong type of rods for me. I mostly fish rivers and occasionally fish lakes when I take the kids. Im looking at an 8'6 casting rod or bigger maybe a spinning rod for some bobber fishing. I just didnt know much about LCI and then found out there an early loomis now owned by Talon.
More fish please!

I think when Gary Loomis and his wife divorced in the 80's they split the company as well as the sheets. LCI was around for a few years before resurfacing as Talon. LCI made solid rods back in the day but the technology of the 80's is a bit long in the tooth now.

From what i have been told Gary Loomis Has Recently started another company (dont know the name yet) . He will still be based out of washington . The materials are suppose to be the same as loomis ! kinda simular to how lamiglas started years back . Im looking forward to see the prices on the new rods , and i will ALWAYS only buy american made rods period . Prior to me changing over to lami's , i first started bass'n with Allstar Rods based out of Texas (Great rods for beginner bass'n) ..it so very important to continue to by american products and maintain local support aswell ! When ever i hear that 60 Billion dollar figure that repersents the fishing industry sales i often ask the question how much of that goes over seas !! any clue ? :-"
