HOLIDAY SPORTS MT. VERNON

Post by racfish » Sat Jan 16, 2010 6:38 pm

I took a drive with a friend today scouting rivers and went to Taylor Seafoods for clams and oysters. On the way back I was gonna stop at Wally World but stumbled upon Holiday Sporting Goods. What a fantastic store with loads of gear and clothing.I ended up with a new 8'6 Ugly Stick for spin casting and gear.If youre in Mt Vernon area its well worth the stop.Everything especially fresh bait. Nice sand shrimps and eggs.It may be along drive from Seattle but well worth it.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I've been shopping at Holiday Sports for many years. The store you visited is new to them. They use to be in a small older building nearby before they moved to the new store you visited. I find their prices are lower than anyone else’s and their selection is great. My wife went there before Christmas and bought several stocking stuffers for me (tackle) there. They had everything on my list! :) Anyway, it's a great store and worth the drive. It is located just west of I-5 on Highway 20 in Burlington.

Easy to find. Take a left at the Anacortes exit. Can't miss it as there is a big Mc Donalds sign on the west side of I-5. After going under the freeway take another left at the first light. HS is on the right across from Mickey D's. I've found their pricing to be competitive but not cheap. Very good selection of gear that works locally.

What I found in the store that when you ask "excuse me can you help me?"The guy there walked me to the hoochies and then asked what I was targeting. He then told me the top selections and then asked if I need anything just ask...WOW!!!Thats service. They win for me.Id drive there anytime for gear.As it was I walked out of there $150.00 poorer...I bought a brand new Ugly spinning rod for 60 bucks. What a deal.Courtesy is their game.I gave them an A+ on service and selection.

i'm with you racfish. i went up there yesterday trying to find some plastics i couldn't find anywhere around everett and vacinity. after nosing around for all of two minutes, a young guy came over and asked me what i was looking for. he showed me alot of what i wanted, even in the right color, lol. after i named off my list, the first thing he said was " you guys fishing at Rufus?". heh heh. i actually like shopping at a store that speaks fish. a very pleasant and well laid out store.
fishing may not be life, but it's a great alternative
