Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

RE:my biggest fish!
I really badly wanted to get a picture of me holding him up but a 40lb halibut in a 17ft boat filled with rods and gear probably wouldn't turn out good and also I'm not sure I could pick up a flopping halibut long enough to get a picture. anyways we got a few pics of it in the water on my friends camera and I hope to upload them. it was so hard to release knowing that the fish was worth about 200$.

nice work lite line, that's a hog!! you're right, a floppin 40lber puts up one heck of a fight, if you're not prepared. i'm extremely jealous, i still need to boat my first hali. good job getting him to the surface and having the awareness to get a pic...that would be awesome to see....
I have caught many fish in my life. The most exciting? The next one.....

Man great job liteline! I grew up in L.A. and whenever I fished it was always Salt Water,..we'd go out on Full Day/Half Day boats and fish for mostly Rock Cod and pretty much whatever else would hit our lines,..mostly Anchovies for bait,..when we would catch these Cod their stomachs {I think} would be extending from their mouths,..is this kinda like the "Bends" for fish? I think because of the depth this happens,..not sure but if anyone knows I would be grateful!!!

ya you have it right some fish like perch, trout, rockfish, have an airbladder that puffs up when brought from deeper depths.

Air bladder pops out. Kinda means they are dead, some say to pop them with the needle of like a basketball pump, I don't know if that works, but as soon as I have my limit of whatever bottomfish I catch, I immediately discontinue fishing for them....brownbomber wrote:when we would catch these Cod their stomachs {I think} would be extending from their mouths,..is this kinda like the "Bends" for fish? RE:my biggest fish!
when I have my limit in rockfish I go to shallower water kelp beds 10-40ft an that way I can safely release rockfish.

Congrats on the 40 pounder. That is just awesome. I have never caught a halibut but hope to take a trip to Neah Bay or Sekiu here soon. We have been talking about it at work recently so I hope we go this year. Not sure when the season is so I will have to do a little checking. Anyway, nice job.
