Only dip net with handle, or jigging gear is legal. Per page 102

Cast nets have been a no-no for a bunch of years in WA. You can dip, jig, or rake to fill your needs. I always have a Sabiki (sp) rig in the boat to jig herring when available. Sometimes the salmon (and always the bottom feeders) prefer to eat bait. And if you're gonna use bait; use the freshest stuff that you can get your hands on.

For herring I wait for a school and jig lil Gomakatsu hooks on a line. It'll catch enough for bait for the day.Depends on a persons need or greed.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
