I am sending out a quick SOS to anybody who fishes the whidbey Is. beaches. I am going up there today on short notice with a friend and our kids, I was just wondering if anybody can point me towards what they think are a couple of good beaches? I know that some people fish Ft. Casey. We will start there, but if anybody has any other ideas please PM me.
We will be throwing both flies and gear. I would like to find a beach that has either an outflowing stream, or outlying point from the land.
Of course I know that A9 is the guy to ask... I sent him a PM already, but I bet he is out there on the boat as I speak.
I also realize that salmon has just about closed everywhere Nov 30th, but there are year round c&r cutts.
Thanks.

Wrong time frame on cutts and salmon months wrong#-o !!!!!! You might first check your fish runs???? where , when and why?#-o
The good news Prime time metalheads/steelhead right now:compress: there making the swing right off (Fort Casey):-# as we Speak heading for there home waters and there eating all and everything
Light steelhead Rod medium action is fine and hoochie skirts set ups cast at least past the 3rd breaking wave with (incoming tides only):bball: stay out of the water at all times you will get hooked up as your retreving your cast and blast just off the wave break!
Then lets say all hell will break loose dime bright metalheads sporting sea lice in the salt they will show you some fun and make sure there hatchery fish only and release all nates the tribes have to net them for fish recovery!!!:-#
LMAO!!!!
Fish on = 12lb clear line to finish!:bounce: Fish more to the point as you come off the Bluffs from the parking lot= more tide and bait and better drops with (incoming tides only):bom:

Ft Casey fishes either tide.
Lagoon Pt fishes incoming to 1 hr after tide change
Bush Pt fishes same as Lagoon
North beach (Deception Pass) fishes ebb
With the crash in steelhead populations the past 10+ years success (catching) has dropped dropped way off on saltwater steelhead. Even in the mid 70's when I started fishing the rock it was a lot of casts between fish. We used to say that beach steelhead were the fish of a thousand casts but now its more like a fish of 10 thousand casts. In the "good old days" of the 70's & 80's we caught a lot of fish on the rock. The past several years its been more of a T-day & X-mas holiday tradition to fish up on the rock than having any expectation of catching a couple steelhead. Oh, I was out T-day AM working up an appetite by fishing the rock. Didn't get bit by anything silver and shiny but did find a bunch of dabs, baby ling, and sculpin that wanted to bite the fly. At least I got some fresh air and a lot of casting practice with my switch fly rod.

60's, 70's 80's and 90's
killed more fish then anyone ever should and 2008 with the correct workbench the 1-5 percent still catches most of the fish these numbers have changed little all the fish numbers have been impacted but its 2008 and passions will still get it done for those who dare and FT Casey will still sport fish to the few:compress:
