Throw anything pink out or pink and white.... work the jig or buzz bomb like you normally would trying different depths. One year for what seems like eons ago now you could see the school of them below the pier and just drop the jig down as if you were going for herring.

Pink Buzz bombs or pink spoons. Heck anything pink. Pink Jigs in the salt work awesome. Work each lure the way they are supposed to be worked and time the tides right. Don't overthink it, they are Pinks...

Also, explore other areas other then the pier if ya can.... Lots of beaches on the sound that provide great action for pinks off the beach, ya don't need to be out on a boat, I've had many days off of beaches tossing Pink buzz bombs and getting a limit of Pinks within an hour from the shore...Also, the Snohomish river system down low is a great bet as well, if you looking for fish still in good shape.....

No wonder I haven't been catching pinks in past years... my waders are on 94 Foot.... just not able to get deep enough #-o
but I won't be using them this year - they sprung a leak or two.... :-"

Fishboy if you get a chance this summer - Picnic Point or Meadowdale beach off the shore and for what I'm told you don't really need the waders at all. Granted why would you want to catch Pinks when there "should" be Kings this year.

Kings aren't typically very accessible off Piers/shore like Pinks can be....

Bush Point or Lagoon Point on the west side of Whidbey Island are two hot beaches in late August for the pinks. Fish em 2 hours b4 the high, all the way up to slack tide and the fishing is usually non stop. Granted it's not peace and solitude, but still plenty of fish to go around.

Thats true but we usually catch more Blackmouth/Kings of the Edmonds pier than we do Pinks. Granted the old days of 35 fish a day in the summer is long long gone. Doesn't Bush Point become "combat fishing" when the Pinks show up? And how was Bush Point for Silvers last year vs. other years? Enquiring and somewhat broke/boatless and will be really broke paying ferry and gas minds need to know.

I didn't know that Edmonds kicked out more Kings/BM then Pinks...Thanks for the info. Kinda weird the pinks don't go by the pier.

Bush Point isn't really combat fishing when its Pink season. Most folks there are generally pretty calm and cool, nothing escalates into verbal or physical fights from what I've seen and people will clear their lines when you have a fish on. It's usually pretty packed around the high tides and weekend nights (including Fri. nights), but like I said, from early/mid August thru early September, everyones is getting fish. When the run is at its peak, usually a week or two, it seem like most folks are getting 2+ fish, if not limits of 4. Most folks are cool and I've never had a bad experience to make me not want to go there.

Pinks are caught there from early August thru early September, with the best time being mid/late August. Coho will show up in the catches, and during September they are in pretty good and can be caught very effectively off of Bush Point. A few coho usually mix in with the humpy catch in August so thats nice as well.

The best fishing occurs off this beach at the high tide. During summer there is typically a high tide in the afternoon/evening/dusk and fishing the last two hours of the incoming leading up to the high slack tide is best. This is the best window for fishing, granted some folks will always fish it at first light and catch fish regardless of the tide, but the incoming high tide pushes fish really close to shore so fishing is best at this time.

Coho become the bigger target for anglers in September when the Pink run dies down or when folks aren't interested in chasing humpies. This year wasn't good for the silvers, nor was it up at Lagoon Point, but it is typically a good place to go looking for Coho in september, armed with buzz bombs, spoons, etc.

As for the ferry $$, It's typically $8-9 for a car and driver in the summer months, and $4 a passenger. On the way back from the island to Mukilteo, passengers are free so its just a straight fee for car/driver regardless of how many passengers in the car.
