Has anyone used the Navionics West maps for the Droid X (or other android smartphone)? If you have, what were your thoughts on it?
Also, for anyone that uses a smartphone out on the water, what drybag are you using and where did you get it? Looking for something relatively rugged, waterPROOF, and that I can see through and use my touchscreen. I realize some durability will have to be sacrificed for this, but yeah, that's what I'm after.

If you have an iPhone, placing it in a typical waterproof bag will prevent you from using the touch screen. The screen requires you use a conductive material to use it and that is normally your finger. I don't know if anyone makes a waterproof bag with a conductive liner for the iPhone, but that is what you would need.
There are a bunch of different bags/containers built to protect smartphones from water intrusion. AquaPac makes some of the better cases, ones that provide a positive lock to ensure the bag/case would open on it's own.

Having just lost a hand held GPS in Lake Whatcom, I too am looking for a 'container' for my iPhone. I would also add floating to the list of requirements for this new container.

Check with REI, I know they carry the Aquapac products. As for the floating requirement, just leave a little air in the bag and it will float.bcalvert wrote:Having just lost a hand held GPS in Lake Whatcom, I too am looking for a 'container' for my iPhone. Reviews for several of the cases indicate that the user was able to use the touchscreen on their device while inside the case.
