I was pretty shocked that this lake was in the data base. I had to go over to Eastern WA. for the day, so I decided to spend the night and fish one of my favorite small time lakes. Round lake is located 18 East from Tonasket. It is a very small 2-3 acre lake that only get a little pressure from locals. As usual at this lake I caught fat healthy rainbows, regardless of the water temp. I went home with my limit. Fish were between 10- 16". The large one weighed 1.5lbs. On this lake what I do is run a worm about 10' below my bobber, and then do a VERY slow kick around the lake in the float tube. It is tricky to bring the fish in because with the bobber 10' above the hook, I have to pull the last part of the line in by hand. I went out about 6:30 am, I was at the lake at nightfall on Sat. it was wild... the surface of the water was almost like it was raining on it. That many fish were active.
So now the sad part..... This was my first attempt. at filleting trout, (or anything else mostly) I am brining the fish for the smoker tomorrow, so I decided the filet them. I kind of butchered them, but I guess one only gets better with practice. (unfortuneatly the pic. wouldnt upload)

Nice! I'm still figuring out filleting too. It is much harder on smaller fish, that is why I want to practice with pinks this year. Hey, the next time we fish together, remind me to show you how a slip bobber works!
