We had read some reports on this site, stating the perch were good sized and numerous, so we decided to check it out. We did find some good size, but not very many. Had to cover a lot of area to get enough for a small fish fry. Ice is only about 5 inches. This was the lightest perch bite I have seen...very difficult to hook fish. The trout are plentiful, in fact enough so to be a nuisance....and they are in poor shape...very thin. All that to say, we still had a fun day being outdoors, enjoying each other's company, and catching a few fish.

You have not only to cover area but look for a lure or bait also. Last time perch was biting on tiny things only and in a specific water column.

I 've been carrying swedish pimples around but seem to get plenty of action most days with just my 3 hook, 6 foot long leader, worm/egg, so haven't used the lure. I hit, I think it's called Dry Lake, just up from Roses for perch, parking is sort of a bugger at Dry, deepest spot is 10ish feet in the middle. I save Roses for trout, last year was awesome for brown trout along the shoreline.
