Never fished Mayfield but wanted to try something different. While Dave drove back to pick up gas we had forgotten, Dan and I went exploring from the Tacoma Power's Mayfield Lake Park boat launch. We headed straight across the lake and saw nothing on fishfinder so headed down the lake to the bridge. Still nothing and so headed back towards launch staying in shallower water. Saw a fish hiding in some bottom clutter and let out a little more line and fish on! It was a nice sized rainbow (about 14"). Checked that adipose fin was missing and healed and put it in the box. Headed back towards boat launch and saw another fish, about 15' down and again picked up another nice rainbow (about 12"). Got back to the boat launch and got Dave on board and headed back trolling towards the bridge. Saw nothing and caught nothing for quite awhile and then got too shallow for our trolling and when moving to deeper water Dave caught the last rainbow (another 12") we would get that day. We were using different styles of pop gear with worms. Some used plain leader and hook while others tried different colors of wedding rings. It was fun fishing a new location and being able to get onto some fish. We looked forward to our next day.
