Hit the water about 2 pm.The walleye fishing was slow so I threw out the leadcore rod with a Rip N minnow in perch and started trolling medicare beach for trout.Right off the bat I get a violant take down. With 4 colors out at 30 ft per color and a 30 ft leader. It takes me a bit to bring to the net a 2lb or so rainbow.
Thinking this was going to be pretty fast action I put out again and start trolling. After a couple of hours and no more fish I switch sides of the lake and start trolling out in front of Mar Don.Again right off the bat a violant take down. This fish feels bigger but when I get it closer to the boat I realize its smaller just foul hooked on the back of his head.I lift it out of the water to realize that the trout was not a rainbow, but a 1 1/2 lb or so tiger trout.I have caught these things before but had no idea that any were in this lake.I unhook him and toss him back.I continued trolling till about 7 then called it a day.I did stop by the docks and check out the zillion or so perch swimming all over, but as expensive worms are these days I wasnt going to feed them to a bunch of 5 -6 inch perch.I actually saw where someone actually filleted some of them.

You only need to catch one fish to have all the bait you need for a day of hauling in perch. Dropshot a bit of perch skin off the face of the dam for the larger fish.

Yup perch meat is all you need, we went there the other weekend and caught perch to 12 inches off the dock. A lot of smaller fish to go through at first though.

This is a lake that I would really like to fish. For the Cabela's fish for millions contest, tiger trout were stocked in that lake. They are tagged though. Sounds like you had a good day. Do you know of any good bank fishing spots on the lake (that I don't have to pay for). Never been there, but would like to catch some awesome panfish, bass, walleye, trout etc. Perch fishing sounds really fun right now.
